Performance test strategy for a high-risk on-premise to cloud system migration.
GL Education (known in the UK as GL Assessment) is the leading provider of benchmarking, formative and diagnostic assessments to British, bilingual and international schools in over 100 countries worldwide and assessment services to ministries of education and their agencies. Recognising that technology is a driver for educational change, the company has pioneered an award-winning digital assessment system, which has delivered over 7 million online tests across the globe, and they continue to innovate with adaptive testing and tablet-based assessments.
The Challenge
GL Education was moving from an on-premise system to a cloud based solution. The system had not been baselined or tested for its performance related quality characteristics. The risk was deemed too high so CQE were engaged to leverage our performance testing services.
The Solution
We conducted an in-depth analysis of the system and infrastructure, identifying via a formal risk assessment process, the key areas that needed to be included within scope of any performance testing. We created the test infrastructure, built the scripts, modelled the transaction volume, and trained the client.
The Results
CQE provided the client with a comprehensive test approach for their platform migration, built and configured test infrastructure, and ran knowledge transfer sessions to upskill team members. This increased capability led to a more effective performance risk mitigation strategy as they had the skills, tools, and knowledge to test on demand and increase delivery certainty.
What our client had to say
"CQE instantly impressed me with the high-quality feedback we needed to address some key challenges with our testing process. They've consistently demonstrated their ability to accommodate our needs and frequently impress with the high-quality interactions we have. If you are looking for consultancy and support around Testing in the IT space, I can highly recommend them."
